The Path to Downfall

02 May 2009

The soft touch of the wind once more connected me with the world outside, its caress bringing the most peaceful feelings ever. Of course, I was not to know that such tame breeze would suddenly transform into such a powerful gust as my eyes would fall on the pigsty that was till yesterday, the jogging track. At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes; there were plastic bags, cups, takeaways and god knows what else everywhere, and the most ironical thing was… all the huge litter bins placed at various locations were empty. Not even one person had had the idea of throwing his trash in them, instead of dumping it wherever he could.

The first words that came to my mom’s mouth were “how uncivilised!”. No need to say that the same words sprang to my mind as this scene appeared before me. It was really disheartening to see a place where people usually come to relax in the morning before starting out a stressing day. Frankly speaking, it was disturbing; I still cannot get out that picture out of my head, and neither can my mom. All we can think about is this big mess, wondering how people could be so primitive as to pollute a public place and not even reflect on their actions. Keep reading…

One man’s gain is equal to another man’s loss.

This might be one of the oldest theories in Economics; there can never be two winners, one always has to lose. However, it’s unbelievable how the contrary cannot be applied to all the cases. Someone’s loss might result in another’s loss or gain; it’s a 50-50 risk that one might have to take sometimes. While most economists seek for a balance in such an imperfect world, one cannot help but feel the imbalance that threatens to attach itself to the future generations; the widening gap between prosperous countries and the poverty-stricken others being the most noticeable of all.

What comes to mind when one think about the gloomy destinies of poor countries? Hunger: they are flagged with that one word, the picture of several skinny children coming to mind, and staying what they are, a picture… soon to be discarded for the frivolous and materialistic desires that we harbour and which might not be important. How many times have we thought of the plight of these dying nations, then instantly forgotten about it all because “we had better things to do”? Keep reading…

Just a little something for supporting antidrug campaigns… STOP Heroin, STOP cocaine… wanna get high?? USE lidocain instead… or simply pay your “Yearly” visit to the dentist… It’s as effective or even better than any drugs and it definitely gets you high… the proof in image:

Smelling fresh paint? or rather fresh fish *points to left top corner* Though I’m not sure fish smell is that appealing. It might even keep you away…  Maybe it wasn’t so cool after all to choose a theme with kois on it. Well considering the number of themes we’ve gone through, this was certainly the best one. For the past few days, I have been trying lots of them, with Sayuka probably seeing a new theme each time she was checking the site. We all had our eyes on this theme but we didn’t choose it because we didn’t think it would be practical but in the end… well you can see for yourself xD I made a few changes to the coding and it was ready.

No need to say that these changes caused a lot of trouble xD The blog even found itself naked, though I managed to solve the problem soon enough before anyone seeing it. I’m sure it wouldn’t have approved of anybody seeing it in its…weakest state.  Or when I accidentally deleted the database and lost everything yet again xD It took me about 1 day to put everything up and about the same time to manage to stop playing with it :P It was really fun to play around, but got really frustrating when it wasn’t working like I wanted it to. Before the Meeting

14 Mar 2009

( I would love to see that on the front page of a paper :P :$ )

(Translation: A first in Mauritius, the Island’s bloggers meet at Mc Donald’s in Port-Louis, to get to know each other, and to make an update on the number of bloggers on the Mauritian web. Yashvin and Morina, the ones behind the “Mauritian Bloggers Meeeting” project, were both present, as were numerous fans of the Mauritian Blog-o-sphere. )

Since a few days now, Yashvin and Morina have been sending invites to all the Mauritian Blog Community and being bloggers, bbZuSh, Sayuka and myself were all interested to go to the meeting to finally meet all these virtual friends. I’m sure by now, we must all be online to blog the meeting.. but rather than being one of the many who are going to do so, I would like to count you our (bbZuSh, Sayuka and me) adventure before coming to meet our fellow friends today.
